Our regular monthly General Meeting will be postponed until next week. The Executive Committee has been distracted with other things over the last week and today kind of snuck up on us. We will hold the meeting next Tuesday, time and location to be determined. Will let you know ASAP.

EYSC's 2012 Summer registration has started. We will register this Saturday May 12 between 9am-12pm during games at Edinburg Municipal Park soccer fields. We will also have registration days at Academy Sports + Outdoors on Trenton/Hwy 281 in Edinburg May 19-20 and May 26-27, from 3:00pm to 6:30pm all four days.

• Fee: $35 per player
• Games: 6 game season, 1 per week. Most on Tuesdays/Thursdays evenings
• Start Date: First games set to begin June 12, 2012
• Registration: Academy Sports + Outdoors 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM May 19-20, 26-27
• Uniform: T-shirt supplied to player MUST be worn as game uniform
• Practices: Up to each coach, limited/no practices very possible for Summer season
• No awards given during Summer season

Make-up games for the canceled 3/10/2012 games will be played May 12, 2012. The same exact schedule from 3/10 will be followed so check that date to see your playing time and field. If these games have to be canceled due to weather, they will NOT be rescheduled again.

EYSC Academy's inaugural season was this Spring 2012 season, and we feel it finished as a success. Dozens of EYSC recreational players took the opportunity to receive additional training from trainers Mauricio Chacon and JR Dykes. We will have a Summer session going on during our Summer season. The fee is $20 and will be a 2 hour training session once a week for 4 weeks.

EYSC Academy training is targeted at players of all levels above the U7 age division and focuses on building a strong foundation of basic skills, knowledge, and enjoyment of the game of soccer in a positive environment to help players succeed on and off the field. Edinburg Youth Soccer Club is pleased to announce a year of partnership with Challenger Sports, providers of the USA’s most popular soccer camp, to host the week long British Soccer camp during the week of June 4-8, 2012 at Edinburg Municipal Park.

The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of Challenger’s British coaching staff flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. Challenger will hold over 4,000 British Soccer Camps this summer and will coach over 120,000 players between the ages of 3 and 18, as well as completing FREE coach education clinics for over 30,000 parents and coaches.

Challenger’s British Soccer Camp is more than a week of drills and skills. In addition to taking part in a daily regimen of foot skill development (through the 1,000 touches curriculum), technical and tactical practices and daily ‘World Cup’ tournament style plays, each child will be treated to a rich cultural experience and lessons on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship.

Each camper will receive a FREE camp T-shirt, soccer ball, soccer poster, individual skills performance evaluation and free access to an educational soccer website. The policy for canceling EYSC games has been consistent for a couple years, this policy is also printed at the bottom of all the schedules found on this website. The policy is: Games will not be canceled for weather until roughly one hour before the scheduled game time, in most cases. EYSC will begin notifying all coaches that games are canceled as soon as that decision has been made, coaches are asked to notify their players/parents

We stick with this policy most of the time, due to possible changes in weather from one day to the next that have resulted in games being canceled prematurely in the past that could have been played in good conditions come Saturday morning. If rain is consistent for several days before Saturday that is when we may decide on Friday to cancel. In regards to this weekend we are borderline and I will be checking the fields later this evening to determine if they are playable at this point. If a decision is made tonight coaches will be told, if not then wake up early expecting to play unless contacted before the games. Thank you.
