Again, June 30th Games Canceled - Makeup Schedule

Due to heavy amounts of rain and possible further rain today the games for today, June 30, 2011 are canceled and the fields will remain closed.
With now two days cancled because of rain and three weeks remaining to the season we will be scheduling these games over the next two weeks. June 23rd games will be played Wednesday July 6th, June 30th games will be played on Wednesday July 13th. Game times and field designations will be the same as originally scheduled. scheduled.

2011 Summer Season

We have been getting calls for a few weeks already, so here is the Summer season information:
- Starts June 14, 2011 (first games).
- Season will be 6 (six) games long, one game played per week.
- Games played Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
- $30 per player, fee includes t-shirt to be used as playing uniform.
- Coaches get $15 discount.
Registration days will take place at Academy Outdoor + Sports located at 651 E. Trenton (On Trenton next to Hwy 281) in Edinburg. Below are our registration dates/times:
- May 8 (Sunday) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM
- May 11 (Wednesday) from 5:30 to 7:00 PM
- May 14 (Saturday) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM
- May 15 (Sunday) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM
Important: Please make sure to inform EYSC at time of registration if player has played at one of the following clubs during Spring 2011 or Fall 2010 seasons: Edinburg Youth Soccer Club, McAllen Youth Soccer Association, Mid Valley Youth Soccer Club, or any other Club/Association that is part of South Texas Youth Soccer. This helps us a great amount on the administrative side of things and has no effect on your child being able to play.

Picture Day is this coming Saturday, April 2, 2011. Please arrive an hour before your game to get individual and team photos taken. Photos will be done in the area between the parking lot and the soccer fields.

Challenger Camp Preview

Interested in getting a taste of what the Challenger Camp in June will be like? We will have a special event with one of the Challenger Camp staff holding some training sessions on the morning of March 19th, Saturday. We will need either teams or individuals who are interested in a great (and free) training session. We also recommend any coaches who are interested in watching come out to do so, great for first time parent/coaches to see. Would be great to get variety of age divisions represented. Spring Schedules Posted

You can now find the Spring 2011 season schedules in the menu to the left in .pdf format. Please note there are no games scheduled for March 19th, the second weekend of Spring break. There will be games the first weekend and well on the Saturday of Easter weekend. This continues the pattern of past Spring seasons.
Please also take notice of the message at the bottom of the schedules, including how we all must enter the park on March 5th via the Doolittle entrance.
Update 3/3/11: U15 Co-ed schedules have been updated, several game times changed throughout the season.
Spring Season Starting March 5, 2011

The first games of the Spring 2011 season will be scheduled for March 5, 2011. Slightly later then expected, but we decided to better ensure the most successful season possible to go ahead and delay the first games a little. Teams will be formed shortly and all teams should be practicing by February 23rd.
Spring 2011 Registration

Edinburg Youth Soccer Club will be registering for the Spring 2011 season throughout the month of January. Every Saturday and Sunday in January we will be at the Academy store on Trenton and Hwy 281 in Edinburg, between the hours of 1-6 PM. Players returning from the Fall 2010 season are only $25, will new registrations are $70 for one child and $50 for additional children. New registration fee covers full uniform of jersey, shorts, and socks.
For new registrations, please bring a birth certificate and/or copy of the birth certificate so we are able to varify the child's age. A valid passport is acceptable.
The Spring 2011 season games will start in mid to late February, practices 1-2 weeks earlier.
Chevrolet Youth Soccer Clinic

Across the country Chevrolet has taken it upon themselves to help support and promote youth soccer. As part of this not only will Fiesta Chevrolet in Edinburg soon become a sponsor of EYSC, there will also be an Youth Soccer Clinic to be held in McAllen for players in our area. Kids may attend a 3 hour long clinic on either Monday, October 18, or Tuesday, October 19. This clinic is FREE and is open to all kids ages 6-14 on a first come, first serve basis until all spots are filled. For more information please see this flyer.

Fall 2010 Season Update

Update: Schedules are posted as of 09/14/2010, located on the left hand menu.
Games for the Fall 2010 season are set to begin this Saturday, September 18, 2010. We have record numbers registered to play this season which is a great thing (and only the begining?) but it has also added some growing pains. More players has meant more teams, so we needed more coaches then ever. It appears we are taking care of those final one or two teams needing a coach though and everything should be set over the next day or so. We appreciate everyone's patience with us, there are only a few of us and almost 500 of you.
This season promises to be a good one as EYSC takes it's first major step of growing into the type of Club it should be. Our registration is up nearly 100 kids more then last Fall and that is allowing us to split the boys age groups up properly. Now we just need to get the girls registrations up as high. Sure there are bumps along the way, like the uniforms getting here two days later then I had requested, but usually things turn out okay. Speaking of uniforms lets get to the good stuff. Uniforms arrive Wednesday and just in time as we are scheduled to give coaches uniforms and schedules for their teams at our monthly Coaches Meeting which will be held at 7:30 PM September 15th at the Edinburg Municipal Park soccer fields. The schedules are finished though, that's why I am up still, and will probably be posted tonight (Monday) and you will get your early look if you are one of the many on pace to make this the busiest month in the two year history of www.edinburgsoccer.org.
So it's an exciting time as the Fall season gets ready to kick off. How can you help? The first step is to do everything possible to make it a good experience for all the kids playing this season. Though registration has officially ended we are still taking registrations for the Fall 2010 season in several age groups. Please call 956-587-9063 to find out more information, some age divisions are full. Coaches are also needed for most age divisions.
Coaching Modules In Edinburg

For the first time in a few years it looks as if Edinburg will host two coaching modules. These modules (or a license) is required to coach for more then one year under STYSA rules. Their main purpose though is to help youth coaches do what they volunteer to do, coach. They are age specific and will give coaches some of the tools they need to properly train soccer to children in a way that will not only improve their knowledge and ability, but increase their enjoyment.
Edinburg Youth Soccer Club will have both an Under 6/8 module and an Under 10/12 module. The Under 6/8 module will take place on Saturday August 21, 2010 with a fee of $30. The Under 10/12 module will happen the next day on Sunday August 22, 2010 and the fee will be $40. For more information please contact J.R. Dykes at 956-587-9063 or admin@edinburgsoccer.org.

Our Fall registration is currently taking place, please register now before time runs out. The following are our registration days at Academy Sports + Outdoors at Trenton and Hwy 281 in Edinburg:
- * Saturday-Sunday July 17-18, 1:30-7:30 PM
- * Saturday-Sunday July 24-25, 1:30-7:30 PM
- * Wednesday July 28, 5:30-8:30 PM
- * Saturday July 31, 1:30-7:30 PM
- * Sunday August 1, 1:30-7:30 PM
One child is $70 for the Fall season, this includes a full uniform (shorts, socks, jersey). Additional children (siblings) are $50. Remember to bring player's birth certificate, and a copy for EYSC to keep if possible.
Please let us know if you would like to help Edinburg YSC through being a volunteer as a coach or other position, or by being a sponsor.

EYSC would like to thank Valley Vessel Fabricators for lending us a fantastic grill that was used to supply many of us with some tasty BBQ during our Parent's Day festivities back in April. It is much appreciated from all of us who are members of Edinburg Youth Soccer Club.
Summer Season Registration

Update: May 15th is our final registration day for Summer. We will be registering in front of the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Building at 315 E. Palm, next to the police station and across from the football stadium. We will be there from 11:00 AM until late afternoon.
Our Summer season will kick-off on June 1, 2010 as we do a fast and furious four weeks of weekday evening soccer. Each team will play two games a week for a total of eight games for the season. We invite you out to register NOW!
The registration fee for summer is $35 per child which includes a t-shirt. You can find us at the Edinburg Municipal Park in the concession stand by the soccer fields on the south side of the park. Please bring the childs birth certificate if you did not play with EYSC in the Spring season.

Parent Day, April 3rd

Our seasonal Parent Day is this coming Saturday, April 3, 2010. This year it will be bigger and better then ever. Of course we will have our main events, the Parent games. Men teams and womens teams will be formed over this week, and they wille ach have their own games. We don't want to leave the kids out of the fun though. We will be having some BBQ for the whole family, face painting, a moonjump is in the works, an Easter Egg hunt (with eggs that have more then simply candy), and a raffle that will include paid registration to the Challenger British Soccer Camp held in Edinburg the first week of August as one of the prizes.
All of the family fun will begin roughly around 1:00 PM after the last of our children's games have ended. Contact your coach to find out about registering to play. Parents and other adult relatives are welcome to play.
